Building a Home with Incredible Views in the Katoba Hills
Our client had a clear vision for her dream home in the picturesque area of Katoba. She knew exactly what she wanted—tall ceilings, large windows, and a design that perfectly suits her lifestyle and love for the Zambian landscape. She was introduced to Rivuuz when she stayed in another home we built (Kampamba House) and decided to buy the plot right next door to build her forever home. This wasn't just another construction project; it was about creating a space where every detail would be exactly right, even if that meant taking the time to make it perfect.

Overcoming Challenges
This project had a rocky start, quite literally. Drilling the borehole proved to be a major challenge, with the ground collapsing multiple times. After five unsuccessful attempts, it took a new drilling company and new technique to get it right on the sixth try.
It was the first of many moments where our "handled-for-you" approach made a real difference. Can you imagine managing six borehole drills while juggling a full-time job and your other responsibilities? That's where Rivuuz stepped in to handle the pressure.
The house is built on a sloped hill which presented its own construction challenges, requiring extensive excavation for a level foundation. We carefully landscaped around the hill to maintain the natural beauty and avoided obstructing the view with a retaining wall. Despite the remote location's limited network coverage, our team's careful planning ensured timely material delivery and workflow.
A Perfect Fit in Progress
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was seeing our "Build at Your Own Pace" model in action. Our client needed time between phases to regroup - and that was perfectly fine! This flexibility allowed for thoughtful decision-making at every step, from selecting the perfect placement of the large french windows to finalising the details of the grand veranda.
Currently, the project has reached an exciting milestone – the cottage and main house’s grey structure is complete and the exterior has been beautifully painted, allowing our client to enjoy her weekend visits to the property. The interior remains intentionally unfinished as she takes time to source the exact fixtures and finishes she envisions for her forever home.
Rather than compromise on quality, she's chosen to pause the interior work - including electrical, plumbing, and ceilings - until early next year. It's this kind of careful consideration that ensures every element of the home will be exactly as envisioned, making the wait worthwhile.
